TUTORIAL: GRAFTING LACE

This is a grafting technique using a tapestry needle. Perfect for joining two pieces of a lace project together seamlessly.
Tools: knitting needles – size required for your project. Tapestry needle.

Hold the needles parallel to each other, horizontally in front of you, with the wrong sides of the fabric facing to the inside. Thread the working yarn from the back needle on to a tapestry needle,

Set up: Go through the first stitch on the front needle purlwise.

then go through first stitch on the back needle knitwise.

Step 1. Go through the first stitch of the front needle knitwise and slip off the needle,

Step 2: Then go through the second stitch purlwise , leave this st on the needle.

Step 3: Go through first stitch of the back needle purlwise and slip off needle.

Step 4: Now go through the second stitch knitwise and leave this st on the needle.

Repeat steps 1 -4 until all stitches have been cast off. Maintain an even tension, not too tight, check your tension as you go to be sure the stitches are even.
